Tatooine Graffitti

A couple of sample pages done for Dark Horse comics years ago. Needless to say I didn't get the gig! Bummer!
I can't remember if this was from an original story we were pitching at the time. I have a vague recollection about a storyline set on Tatooine detailing the adventures of Luke and Biggs.
Kind of a 'Tatooine Graffitti'. I thought it was a cool idea, anyway.

Nice stuff. I like the composition of the 2nd page, the way the positioning of the Tusken raider's upraised hands, along with that little fold in Luke's shirt, follows the flow of the directional lines in the center panel to the sarlacc. The absence of that kind of compositional stuff always makes the page feel wrong, though most people can't express why.

Too bad it never got completely realized!

That is a bummer!

Man oh man, I like those a lot! Great naturalistic anatomy, nice likenesses without using photo reference. The way they blend in with your rendering style is smooth and complete. I hate when artist stick a reference portrait head on their figures.

Dark Horse's Star Wars comics leave me a bit cold. They're too comic-y, not Star Warsy-y enough. But maybe it's because they tend to focus on eras I couldn't care less about. Your samples grab me much more!

It was a cool idea - I recollect it vividly! These pages just opened the ol' noggin' archive and I travelled back in time to the afternoon that you gave me a peek at these to pages. I loved them then and I love them now only more so as it's now a memory that I longer have to let slip.

Nice work mate - on both counts.
